Eons ago, the world was once covered in water.

In the ancient times, magic thrived in the ocean with its strongest wielders being the sea serpents of old. However, these times did not last forever. Surface land began to rise from the depths, causing the serpents to rest. As time passed, modern civilization rose, but the use of magic fell. The secrets of the occult vanished, but the sea serpents never truly left. Now as humanity begins to explore the ocean, they found themselves accidently awakening the snakes in the darkest depths. But before these explorers could warn everyone, they found themselves converted into sea serpents. The awakened snakes now see the modern world as a blight upon the old and are now preparing humanity to join the serpents in the depths.

You play as a recently converted sea serpent who is trying to fulfill your new kind's goal, taking over the surface world. In this game you will harness the power of the occult with 22 special grimoire cards that allow a vast amount of customization in a simple framework. Each of these cards grants you special powers, but you can sacrifice them in order to gain reality warping abilities. Think of this game like a reverse horror RPG. You are the monster that plans to take over the world.

This game features two different modes of play. You can either run with a GM who creates the narrative and challenges that the players face or you can run it by yourself with an extremely simple singleplayer mode.

<br-span><br-bold><br-fixation fixation-strength="1">I</br-fixation></br-bold> really enjoy this book and I'm planning to run this on my podcast soon. Can I clarify something about skillchecks? The book reads "This is done by rolling a number of d6s equal to a d6 and then counting how many successes were rolled". What does it mean by equal to a d6? Do you roll a d6 to see how many d6s you will roll? Or is that supposed to read equal to your attribute score? Thanks.

Its supposed to be a number of dice equal to your attribute score. I got it right when writing the rule under "Choosing Attributes and Grimoire Cards", but thanks for catching my embarrassing typo under that section. I was knee deep in college classes trying to get this game done before the game jam deadline, so I hope the game still plays smoothly. Thank you for letting me know about this and I hope you playing it!

Thanks for your help! The first episode is out now if you're interested: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dicesonice/episodes/We-Swim-Below-Part-1...
